Graffiti – Do It While No One’s Looking

Every now and then, I need to indulge in one of these quick online drawing games.

Click & drag backgrounds, stencils (easy to re-size), colors, patterns … to place your graffiti on to various surfaces, like a wall, a floor, a skateboard ramp, etc.

In one scenario, I designed a tattoo on someone’s arm. Never thought I’d ever do that!

Have a try… at The Refreshing Wall. Click on the basketball to get started. It may take one or two tries, but you’ll get there.

Enjoy!

If you’re in or around Hollywood, California, and you love great photography…read on.

Gilbert B. Weingourt, photographer for 40 years, was THERE — back in the day — in the late ’60s when social and political activists were changing the world as we knew it. He worked for the East Village Other and as a bartender at The Scene in Greenwich Village. He also spent time in Los Angeles in those days where he met and photographed well-known singers, musicians, and actors as well.

We went to see the FREE exhibit of his photos at:

Part Two – Turn Your Blog into a Book

A few days ago, I posted Part One from lifehacker.com …

Here’s the link to Part Two – Turn Your Blog into a Book.

It certainly looks like a lot of work, organizing a system like this, as I know some of us are not that anal, but hey … it will get you to think about some kind of structure, won’t it? (Personally, I’m a fan of 3-ring notebooks with dividers for chapters … but whatever works.)

Congrats to Gina Trapani for putting this together…and thanks for sharing your process with us.

Creative Hacks – Podcasts

I find myself feeling more and more like a giant sheet of elastic, being pulled in all directions at once … should I read this article or watch this video or listen to this podcast series or read this great new book … all in an effort to satisfy my hunger to know more about what’s going on in the field of creativity. As frustrating as it is (I mean, there only so many hours in a day, right?) I’m grateful for all the choices.

People often ask me if/how I’m enjoying my iPod … and I tell them I wish I had time to listen more to my favorite songs, but I really use it more often for things like this … a brand new series addressing the creative process from various points of view:

Turn Your Blog into a Book

Having been an avid writer ever since I learned to type at age 14, (mostly long letters, stories, and some non-fiction)…I’ve always identified with others who are as passionate about writing as I am…

My curiosity drove me to research some evidence of man’s earliest writing and, of course, I found a book about it (probably one of many):

Archaic Bookkeeping brings together the most current scholarship on the earliest true writing system in human history. Invented by the Babylonians at the end of the fourth millennium B.C., this script, called proto-cuneiform…”

Just think if the Babylonians knew about blogs!

And if you haven’t heard, there are publishers today who are searching through our blogs to see who might qualify to turn their blog into a book. Talk about win-win!

Take a look at this excellent article from Lifehacker.com, Turn Your Blog into a Book to help demystify the process…

Good luck!
